What You Do

Say: "I'm going to turn around. Think of any two words - any two at all. Don't tell me. When I turn around, I'll guess them."

Turn around. Wait 10 seconds. Turn back.

Say: "I see colors... red and blue... no wait, I see... TABLE and HAPPINESS."

Why It Works

People's first thoughts are usually the most common words in English - things like "table," "chair," "car," "blue," "red." You're not guessing randomly, you're playing the odds. And the "correction" sells it - "no wait" makes it feel like you're actually reading something.

What You Do

Give someone a piece of paper. Say: "Draw anything - a shape, a symbol, anything. Don't show me."

They draw. You take the paper, hold it to your forehead, concentrate, then describe what they drew.

The Secret

Look at the paper while "thinking." The graphite leaves faint marks you can barely see if you look at the right angle. Also - most people draw the same things: stars, hearts, spirals, faces. If you're wrong, say "close one, let me try again" and guess something different.

What You Do

"Think of a number between 1 and 9. Multiply by 9. Add the digits together. Subtract 5. Now map that to letters - 1=A, 2=B, etc."

"Think of a country that starts with that letter."

The Reveal

Point dramatically and say: "You thought of DENMARK and an ELEPHANT."

The math: (1-9 × 9 = 9-81, digits add to 9, 9-5=4, 4=D) Denmark is the most common answer. Elephant is the most common animal for E.

When they don't think of Denmark: Say "Interesting choice! That's actually my second guess. Most people think of Denmark."

Instructions

1. Ask them to pick a 3-digit number (all different digits)

2. Reverse it and subtract the smaller from larger

3. Reverse that result and add together

Answer is always 1089

Now say: "I knew you'd get 1089 - it's the number I've been focusing on all day."
