How to Do Card Tricks for Beginners

Card tricks are the foundation of magic. Here's how to start doing them today - no skills needed.

The Card Force (No Sleight)

Spread cards face down. Ask them to pick one. You control which one they pick by where you stop spreading.

Put your finger between two specific cards - when they point randomly, they're statistically most likely to land near your finger. That's your forced card.

The Bottom Card Secret

Before the trick, glance at the bottom card. Remember it. When they pick a card, look at it, then put it on top.

The bottom card (which you saw) is now on top. When you spread, you know exactly where their card is.

The Classic 21 Card Trick

Deal 21 cards into 3 piles of 7. Ask which pile has their card. Put that pile in the middle.

Repeat three times. After third deal, their card is always the 11th card. Deal and count - reveal it dramatically.

The Prediction Card

Write "7 of diamonds" on a prediction card before they arrive. Show the prediction, set it aside.

Force the 7 of diamonds using the force technique. Have them "randomly" pick it. Reveal your prediction.

What Deck to Get

Any standard deck works. Bicycle cards are the standard for magicians - they're cheap and handle well. Don't buy expensive decks until you're performing regularly.
